Steve's style of playing comes from an incredibly diverse range of influences. He started off learning classical guitar and music theory with Ross Hill, an acoustic guitarist who released instrumental CD 'The Garden'; he then went on to learn pop/rock standards, fingerstyle technique, Spanish and South American folk songs and ragtime with Ross, and then studied jazz guitar with Martin Winch, who has appeared on stage beside Tommy Emmanuel and Leo Kottke, and also released the hugely popular 'Espresso Guitar' album. He is currently under the tutelage of Mike Outram, Guitar Professor at Trinity College of Music, The Royal Academy of Music, London College of Music, The Royal Welsh college of Music and Drama, and Guitar-X of London. Steve has been playing for 16 years, and almost as many years writing, recording and performing with various different projects. He invents with the aspiration to create an orchestra on a single instrument. Having studied guitar and working in the industry for many years, Steve is a very accomplished guitarist and is a mean fingerpicker. Steve is currently working at London College of Music, and plays guitar in the London-based alt/folk/rock band Heaven's Heathens. |
